APPS FOR TYPING AND SYNING INSTALL
I don't have another phone number to try it with, but may be able to get a friend to install it and try that. remove and re-install for better performanceĪctual result: Gets slower as number of stored messages increases.Įxpected result: Time to sync a message should be independent of stored history Platform info.UI (typing) and sync becomes unusably slow.Install & link signal desktop to a phone. The phone app does not seem to have this issue (I've never uninstalled / reinstalled it) which suggests it's unique to the synching process, or has something to do with the chrome extension UI (which is my gut feeling but I'm not familiar with the codebase) Steps to reproduce This suggests that there is some kind of indexing or parsing going on where every new message coming in has to go through the data of all previous messages. Uninstalling the signal desktop extention and re-installing and re-linking to the phone account fixes the problem sync and typing go back to being very quick.at least for a few days or weeks until it starts slowing down again. When trying out different setups, the slowdown seems to be consistent across multiple computers (all running linux). Similar to #1457 and possibly others, sync is very slow, often taking 10 to 20 minutes, even for a small number of messages. I have searched open and closed issues for duplicatesĪdding my data point to this hopefully can help isolate the problem.
